Kauffman Park
Kauffman Stadium is the home for the Kansas City Royals located at One Royal Way in the heart of Kansas City. The stadium is a grass field with a seating capacity of just over 40,000. The complex is a relatively older ballpark in MLB standings but has excellent sightlines and amazing water fountain called the water spectacular and it's the largest private water fountain. The stadium did a complete renovation in 2007 to bring in more of the amenities that baseball fans are accustomed too. See the re- designed stadium and enjoy the out door amenities today.
Kansas City Royals Need To Improve Their Pitching
After winning only 71 games in 2011, the Kansas City Royals look to bounce back in 2012. Outside of the Tigers, the AL Central is not particularly strong, and the Royals have the bats to win some games this year. Following his rookie season where he batted .293, Eric Hosmer (1B) will continue to hit with success. The 22-year-old hit 19 homeruns in his first year in the major leagues. Alex Gordon (LF) is also a great hitter, batting .303 in 2011. The Royals lineup also has solid hitters in Jeff Francoeur (RF), Alcides Escobar (SS), and Mike Moustakas (3B). Pitching will be a weak spot for Kansas City this year. Only one of the Royals starters from last season had an ERA less than 4.00. But if some of their young pitchers develop quickly, then the Royals pitching staff will surprise a lot of teams. The Kansas City Royals should be able to outhit teams in 2012, and if they start pitching well, then they will be near the top of the AL Central. With all of the young talent on this team, the Royals definitely have a bright future.
George Brett Dominates Talk of Greatest Moments in Royals History
The Kansas City Royals are one of the greatest franchises in the history of baseball, even though they have struggled in the last couple of decades mightily. When you look back over their history, the vast majority of their success came from the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties. Though the team is now starting to show some signs of improvement and beginning to stockpile some talent, one has to look back a ways to find the truly memorable moments in Royals history. In fact, George Brett figures quite heavily in almost all of them. As one of the greatest players in history, that is no real surprise.Royals head to playoffs for the first timeIn 1976, the Royals headed to the playoffs and won the AL West for the first time. The Royals only took seven years to hit the post season, and they enjoyed the experience. They followed that up by winning three division titles in a row. The New York Yankees quickly became a huge enemy for the Royals as they ousted them each time in the playoffs. The Royals Finally Get By New York and Enter the World Series. George Brett made a habit of hitting dramatic home runs against the Yankees. In 1980 the Royals got to their first World Series after Brett hit a monster upper deck moon shot off super reliever Goose Gossage. What made it particularly sweet was that it came in the enemy camp of Yankee Stadium and it sent the Royals to their first World Series in their short history. The Yankees were finally cut down to size. George Brett Goes Ballistic In 1983. Brett showed he was not through with the Yankees or Goose Gossage. Brett hit a home run with two outs in the ninth inning and Billy Martin protested the amount of pine tar Brett had on his bat. The umpires gathered and strolled over to the dugout and called Brett out. Brett came tearing out of the dugout and resembled a man possessed as he tried to get to the umpires. Fortunately for Royals fans, Brett and the Royals were found to be in the right after all was said and done and they returned to win the game later that season. The 1985 playoff season. It was clear that the 1985 season was going to be special. The Royals had just come back from a 3-1 deficit to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS and won another trip to the World Series. With some timely pitching and hitting, the Royals managed to do the unthinkable against the Jays. When the Royals found themselves down 3-1 to the cross town St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, nobody panicked at all. The 1985 World Series was everything you could ever want. You had the Royals trying to win their first Title and falling way behind, only to then find themselves coming all the way back to force Game Seven. Bret Saberhagen put on a clinic of pitching in Game Seven and the Royals were World Series Champions for the first time in history.
