Oklahoma 2011 Football Recap
Last season the Oklahoma Sooners started the season at 6-0 and was looking like a BCS title game contender. Then they lost at home to Texas Tech and went 3-3 the second half of the season. The one common thread during the second half swoon was the defense. The Sooners gave up over 40 points in the three defeats last season. Former defensive coordinator Mike Stoops is back in the same capacity in 2012. Quarterback Landry Jones returns after tossing 29 touchdowns in 2011. He is a Heisman Trophy candidate in 2012. Two top flight wide receivers return in Kenny Stills and Jaz Reynolds. Running back Dominque Whaley is recovering from a broken ankle.
The Sooners finished 10-3 in 2011 and it still seemed like a off season. Oklahoma returns 8 starters on offense and should be able to score on anyone. The defense returns 7 starters and they hope Mike Stoops can work some of his old magic on the defensive side of the ball. If the defense can improve a little and Dominque Whaley is healthy Oklahoma should win the Big 12 title.
