The Eagles play their home games at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Established in 1933, the Eagles were a replacement team for the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets.
Before the AFL and NFL merged in 1970, the Eagles made it to the NFL Championship four times with three straight appearances in 1947, 48, and 49, losing in 1947, and winning back-to-back in 1948 and 1949. The Eagles won the title again in 1960 beating the Packers 17-3. The Eagles would make their first post-season appearance in the Super Bowl era in 1978 and would make a showing four consecutive, years losing the Super Bowl in 1980 to the Raiders 27-10. Between 1982 and 1999, the Eagles would make six post-seasons, but never made it out of the divisional playoffs.
Between 2000 and 2010 would be the Eagles most successful years as the team would make the playoffs nine of those 11 years and have more than 10 wins during the regular season eight times. During this period the team would play in five conference championships and in 2004 they would face the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX, losing a close one 24-21. The Eagles have been in a decline the last two seasons; faced with injuries, the team posted a 4-12 record in 2012. Eighteen players that have worn an Eagles uniform that are in the Hall of Fame include, Reggie White, Mike Ditka, and Sonny Jurgensen.

The Philadelphia Eagles had a disappointing season last year, winning just 8 games. The club will have a lot of talent again this year, and they hope they can pull it all together in 2012. Michael Vick (QB) will lead the offense again this season. The electrifying Vick had 18 passing touchdowns in 2011. LeSean McCoy (RB) returns to the starting backfield after running for 1,309 yards last season, and helping the offense rank 5th overall in rushing yards per game. Desean Jackson (WR) will be another weapon for this well-rounded offense. Jackson caught 58 passes for 961 yards. The Eagles defense was solid in 2011, ranking 10th against the pass and 16th against the run. Nnamdi Asomugha (CB) hopes to improve in 2012 after his first season with the team. Asante Samuel (CB) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (CB) make this a dangerous secondary to pass against. Even though the Eagles have basically the same team this year, they should be improved. Look for them to play better as a team in 2012.
