Despite an offseason full of controversy, the Saints hope that they can remain at the top of the NFC South. The Saints' offense was amazing last season, ranking 1st in passing yards per game and 6th in rushing yards per game. Moreover, the offense averaged an astounding 34.2 points per game. Drew Brees (QB) will lead the offense again after throwing for 5,476 yards and 46 touchdowns in 2011. Brees completed 71.2% of his passes, and he should have a solid season again in 2012. Jimmy Graham (TE) and Marques Colston (WR) will be dangerous weapons on the Saints' offense. Graham and Colston combined for 179 receptions, 2,453 yards and 19 touchdowns last year. The Saints' defense was solid last season, however they did rank 30th in pass defense. Roman Harper (S) led the team with 95 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. He should have similar numbers this season, but the defensive statistics are hurt by the fact that their offense scores so quickly. If the Saints can overcome the adversity that they have faced all offseason, then the team can win games. They will still have a ton of talent on the offensive side of the football. |
