Louisville 2012 Preview
Coach Charlie Strong played 11 true freshmen last season as the Cardinals finished 7-6. Despite playing so many freshmen Louisville had 5 losses by 7 points or less in 2011. Freshman quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had growing pains but showed progress as the season went along. He completed 64 percent of his passes for 14 touchdowns. The running game was shared by the graduated Victor Anderson and converted quarterback Dominque Brown. Brown gained 533 yards. Freshman wide receivers DeVante Parker and Eli Rogers had good freshman seasons. Parker averaged 16 yards per catch and Rogers had 41 receptions. The defense played well last season for Louisville as the unit finished in the top 25 in scoring, rushing, and total defense.
The 2012 season looks bright for Louisville despite some graduation losses many returning players gained valuable experience. Teddy Bridgewater is poised to have a breakout season. Four of the five starters on the offensive line return. Also, the receivers are young but talented. The defense needs some patch work in the front seven but the whole secondary returns from 2011. This is a young team that should win the Big East title and a BCS bowl bid.
