The 2011 Northwestern Team Recap
Northwestern was a streaky team won the first two lost five in a row won four in a row including a win over Nebraska and then dropped their last two to finish 6-7. Offense was never a problem as the Wildcats could move the ball on anybody. Returning quarterback Kain Colter filled in while Dan Persa was injured did more than an adequate job. Colter threw for 673 yards and 6 touchdown passes. Colter was a all purpose player for Northwestern in 2011. He also played wide receiver as he caught 43 passes and had 3 touchdown receptions and he rushed for 654 yards and 9 touchdowns. Defense was a big problem for the Wildcats as they gave up 30 points or more seven times.
There is no doubt the Wildcats can come up with offense especially with Colter at quarterback. The dilemma for Northwestern, "Is where do you play Colter?" The question could be answered if other players on offense step up and reduce the role of Colter where he would only play quarterback. The defense was just bad and five starters have to be replaced. That is not good news. It looks like the Wildcats will hover around the .500 mark in 2012.
