They hope that they can improve this offseason and have more success next year. The Islanders averaged 2.4 goals per game, 28th in the NHL. They will need to find more ways to score if they are going to be competitive. They have two young players in Matt Moulson (LW) and John Tavares (C). Moulson led the team in goals in his fourth season with 36. Tavares is only 22 years old, but he led the team will 50 assists. He had 31 goals this season, and has the potential to be a top goal scorer. Expect these two to play even better and lead the team next season. The defense did not rate much higher, averaging 3.1 goals against per game, 27th in the NHL. Veteran goalie Evgeni Nabokov (G) hopes that his defense will play better next year. Nabokov had a save percentage of .914 this year. The New York Islanders have some great young talent, and they hope they will keep improving. Expect the Islanders to be more competitive next season. |
