Syracuse 2012 Preview
Syracuse was another team the fell apart during the second half of the season. The Orange were 5-2 and just beat eventual Big East champion West Virginia then Syracuse lost five straight to finish 5-7. During the losing streak the offense could only score 16 points a game. Without much of an offense down the stretch the defense collapsed. Antwon Bailey gained 1,051 yards in 2011 but he has graduated. Quarterback Ryan Nassib completed 62 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. Defensively, the Orange gave up 28 points a game and 258 yards passing.
The Orange must get off to a good start or last year's finish could linger into 2012. The offense is going to struggle again only 5 starters return. Losing top rusher Antwon Bailey really hurts. Ryan Nassib is a decent quarterback but, he will need help. The defense returns 8 starters and will have to improve greatly for Syracuse to reach a bowl game in 2012. Five wins at the most for the Orange in 2012.
