SF Bulls Football  The South Florida Bulls of the Big East finished the 2011 season with a 5-7 record, ending the year with a hard-fought 30-27 loss against then #23 West Virginia. South Florida finished in seventh place in the Big East, with a 1-6 conference record. Highlights of the 2011 campaign included a big road win in the season opener at Notre Dame, other pre-conference victories over Ball State and UTEP, and a convincing 37-17 route of Syracuse on November 11. Among the key returning players for the Bulls are quarterback B.J. Daniels, wide receiver Sterling Griffin, defensive end Ryne Giddins, linebacker DeDe Lattmore, linebacker Mike Lanaris, linebacker Sam Barrington, cornerback Kayvon Webster and safety Jon Lejiste. South Florida has several quality recruits joining the team this coming season, including tight end Sean Price (Florida), cornerback Chris Bivins (Florida), defensive tackle James Hamilton (Florida), defensive end Guito Ervilus (Florida) and offensive guard Kofi Amichia (Georgia). The 2012 South Florida schedule features a number of great matchups, among them are a September 8 trip to Nevada, a Big East contest against Rutgers, and matchups with Florida State, Louisville and Cincinnati. South Florida 2012 Preview

The South Florida Bulls are one of the most enigmatic teams in the country on a yearly basis. Loaded with talent they start the season strong and then fade at the end. Last season had a hot start four wins in a row and then they proceeded to lose seven of their last eight games to finish at 5-7. Quarterback BJ Daniels combined for over 3,100 yards of total offense and 19 touchdowns in 2011. The defense was OK. The puzzling aspect of the Bulls 2011 season was they out gained their opponents by about 80 yards a game and outscored them by an average of a touchdown a game and they had a losing season.
This is a boom or bust team in the Big East in 2012. Daniels is a top flight quarterback and all of the top receivers return. Demetris Murray returns at running back after gaining 503 yards in 2011. The defense returns 7 starters. South Florida was one of the best pass rushing teams in the nation last year averaging a little over 3 sacks a game. But when they could not get the quarterback the secondary did not hold up. This team could finish sixth or first.
