The Allman Brothers Band is a band from Macon, Georgia, labeled by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as "the principal architects of Southern rock." Originally formed in 1969, two years later they were described by Rolling Stone's George Kimball as "the best damn rock and roll band this country has produced in the past five years." Noted for their impressive jamming and improvisational abilities (best exemplified by their album At Fillmore East), the band has been awarded eleven Gold and five Platinum albums between 1971 and 2005.
