The Commodores used a stout defense with the knack for creating turnovers to finish 6-7. On offense, Zac Stacy led the Commodores in rushing with 1193 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged nearly six yards a carry. The passing game has to improve. Jordan Rodgers completed only 50 percent of his passes for 9 touchdowns but he threw 10 interceptions. The defense was outstanding Vanderbilt was one of the best in the country in turnover margin. Casey Hayward had 7 interceptions. Vanderbilt will have only 5 starters return on defense and replacing Hayward will be tough. The good news is 8 starters return in 2012 including Zac Stacy. The offense will have to carry the load until the defense can find its way. Improving the passing game is a must for the Commodores to equal the success they had in 2011. Coach James Franklin will be tested this season as Vanderbilt will not sneak up on anybody. |
