Blazers FootballNew coach Garrick McGee inherits a team that finished 3-9 in 2011. The Blazers lost eight of their first nine games last season. The defense was bad as UAB gave up 36 points a game also they gave up 35 or more points seven times. Quarterback Jonathan Perry completed 58 percent of his passes for 10 touchdowns. Greg Franklin was the leading rusher for UAB he gained 430 yards. Wide receiver Jackie Williams had 58 catches but did not score a touchdown in 2011.Garrick McGee comes from the offensive staff at Arkansas and will have a decent offense in time. Georgia transfer Dontavius Jackson will help at running back. 6 starters return on offense including quarterback Jonathan Perry. The defense only returns 4 starters and gave up over 200 yards rushing a game in 2011. This is going to be a long season for UAB. They will match last season's win total of three in 2012. |
