2012 Texas Tech Football

The Big 12's Texas Tech Red Raiders finished the 2011 season with a 5-7 record, capped off with a shootout loss (66-42) to then #18 Baylor. Texas Tech finished ninth in the Big 12, with a 2-7 record in conference play. Highlights of the 2011 campaign included a heart-pounding 35-34 victory over Nevada, a win at Kansas that raised their season record to 4-0 at the time, and an upset win against then #3 Oklahoma on October 22.
Among the key returning players for the Red Raiders are quarterback Seth Doege, running back Eric Stephens, running back DeAndre Washington, wide receiver Eric Ward, wide receiver Alex Torres, kicker Donnie Carona, punter Ryan Erxleben, safety Cody Davis, safety D.J. Johnson and linebacker Daniel Cobb.
Texas Tech has several quality recruits joining the team this coming season, including wide receiver Dominique Wheeler (Texas), wide receiver Reginald Davis (Texas), offensive tackle Michael Starts (Texas), wide receiver Casey Gladney (South Carolina) and quarterback Clayton Nicholas (Texas).
The 2012 Texas Tech schedule features a number of great matchups, among them an October 6 clash with Oklahoma, and a season-ending stretch that features games against Big 12 powers Kansas State, Texas, Oklahoma State and Baylor.
