Tennessee scored 12 points or under six times. The running game just could not get untracked. The Vols averaged only 2.8 yards per carry. Tauren Poole was the leading rusher with 693 yards. The passing game despite the lack of a ground attack did quite well. Quarterback Tyler Bray completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for 1,983 yards and 17 touchdowns in seven games. Da'Rick Rodgers caught 67 passes for 1040 yards and had 9 touchdowns. The defense was not that bad but could not hold up because of the offense. Ten starters return on offense with the only loss Tauren Poole. Tyler Bray has the potential to become a All SEC quarterback. Da'Rick Rodgers can play wide receiver with anyone. Another plus is the expected return of wide receiver Justin Hunter. Hunter averaged over 18 yards a catch in the three games he played in. The passing game could be lethal in 2012. The Volunteers must get more consistent play out of the offensive line and find a running back that can take the pressure off of Bray. The defense should be solid. Two starters on the defensive line must be replaced. Tennessee will be vastly improved in 2012 and eight wins are possible. |
