Taste Of Chaos

Taste of Chaos is a post-hardcore tour that was started in the winter of 2004 by Kevin Lyman, the creator of the successful Warped Tour. The Taste of Chaos tour was designed to bring in bands outside the usual punk, emo and metal format that the Warped Tour usually caters to. That philosophy has evolved: In 2007, each of the seven bands playing the entire tour was a Warped Tour veteran; five had played the 2006 Warped Tour and Four (The Used, Senses Fail, Saosin and Aiden (One Show)) had played previously. Taste of Chaos serves fans of alternative music as the "Winter Warped Tour" since dates run from October through April of the next year. The headlining bands in 2005 were The Used, My Chemical Romance, and Killswitch Engage. During the tour Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance left due to family illness and Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage left due to an illness; Frank was replaced for the remainder of the tour and Killswitch Engage trekked on as a 4-piece. Just after Sophomore finished their final date of their stint on the tour (St. Louis), they wrecked the tour van. The tour was highly successful in 2005 for many of the same reasons as its summer counterpart, including cheap tickets and major bands of the genres. In the fall of 2005, the tour became international with The Used, Story of the Year, and Rise Against playing in Australia, Europe, and Asia. The 2006 lineup included Deftones and Thrice headlining. Just prior to the Canadian switch, Funeral for a Friend dropped the tour and The Receiving End of Sirens was replaced by Dredg. When the tour reached Canada, Thursday took over for Story of the Year, and Silverstein joined the tour. Thursday singer Geoff Rickly became very ill just a couple days into their stint on tour and could not sing anymore, forcing the band to drop out of the remaining dates. The band Broke took over for The Confession about this time as well. In 2007 the RTOC bands were: The Used, 30 Seconds to Mars, Senses Fail, Saosin, Chiodos, Aiden, and Evaline. Also playing were the Ernie Ball Battle of The Bands Winners. The need for a second stage was obviated by a rotating stage, allowing a band to play while the next one sets up behind it.
