2012 Sharks

The San Jose Sharks finished the season with a record of 43-29-10, ending in 7th place in the Western Conference and just making the playoffs. However, the Sharks were defeated by the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Quarterfinals.  The team hopes to be fighting in the playoffs again next season. Joe Thornton (C) was the veteran leader on the team this year. Thornton led the team is assists, with 59, and also pitched in 18 goals in his 13th season in the NHL.  The Sharks will need his leadership next year also. 2nd year player Logan Couture also played well this year.  The 23-year-old scored a team high of 31 goals and also had 34 assists.  The Sharks hope that he continues to improve next season.    Defensively, the Sharks ranked 8th in the NHL in goals against per game. They have two young goalies in Antti Niemi (G) and Thomas Greiss (G).  Although Niemi played most of the games, both had a save percentage of .915.  They should be solid in goal again next year. The San Jose Sharks know that they have some talent on the team. They just hope that they can win some games in the playoffs next season.
