Great Moments in Pittsburgh Penguins History
The Penguins reached the playoffs in every year in the 1990's. Mario Lemieux, Larry Murphy, Jaromir Jagr, and Brian Trottier helped the Penguins go all the way in 1990 and 1991. However, the new decade has not been as promising.
The Penguins failed to reach the playoffs in 2003 for the first time in over 10 seasons. Although expectations are low, the Penguins should have an exciting season. Hall of famer Mario Lemieux is likely in the midst of his final NHL season. He returns as the Pens main scoring threat. Marc-Andre Fleury, the number one overall pick from last year's draft, should prove to be exciting in the net. Mike Eastwood and Kelly Buchberger should help young head coach Ed Olczyk and Mario Lemieux develop the youth in the Penguin's organization. |
