2012 Phoenix Coyotes

The Phoenix Coyotes had an excellent season this year, finishing at the top of the Western Conference with a record of 42-27-13.  Although the team was defeated by the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals, the Coyotes hope that they will have a chance to play for the Stanley Cup next season. Offensively, the Coyotes were led by some veteran players.  Radim Vrbata (RW) led the team in goals scored with 35 in his 9th season.  Vrbata also pitched in 27 assists on the year. 40-year-old Ray Whitney (LW) led the team in assists with 53.  In his 19th season in the NHL, Whitney also had 24 goals, and the Coyotes hope that he can be equally as productive next season. The Coyotes defense ranked 5th in the NHL in goals against, averaging only 2.4 goals against per game.  Mike Smith (G) played solid all season long, averaging 2.21 goals against per game. He also had a save percentage of .930.  Jason LaBarbara (G) played well too, earning a save percentage of .912.  Expect these goalies to be great again next season.Overall, the Coyotes have a solid group of players.  They are led by a defense that should carry them back to the playoffs next season.
