2012 Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers played solid this season, finishing the year with a record of 47-26-9.  They were defeated by the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 5 games.  But, the Flyers know they can make it further in the playoffs, and they hope to have a shot at the Stanley Cup next year.  The offense for the Flyers was exceptional this season, ranking 2nd in the NHL as they averaged 3.2 goals per game.  Claude Giroux (C) was great for the team, and he had 65 assists this season. The 24-year-old also had 28 goals for the Flyers, and the team hopes he can be just as productive next year.  The veteran Scott Hartnell (LW) led the team in goals this year with 37.  Hartnell also had 30 assists for the team. The Flyers could use some work on the defensive side, as they ranked 20th in the NHL in goals against. Ilya Bryzgalov (G) had a save percentage of .909.  Look for the defense to improve over the offseason. The Flyers have talent and can score goals.  If they can keep opponents from scoring so much, then they will be playing deep into the playoffs next year.
