However, the team was defeated in 7 games by the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Next season, the Senators hope that they can continue winning and make a run in the playoffs. Offensively, the Senators were great this year. Their average of 3 goals per game was the 4th highest in the NHL, and their power play percentage was 18.1 percent. Milan Michalek (LW) led the team with 35 goals, and the Senators hope he can keep scoring next season. Michalek also had 25 assists this year. Another big player for the Senators was Jason Spezza (C). Spezza had 34 goals and 50 assists this year, and was a major reason for the Senators' success. Look for Spezza and Michalek to play well together next season also. Another bright spot for the Senators was 22-year-old, Sweden-born Eric Karlsson (D). Karlsson led the team with 59 assists in only his 2nd year in the NHL. He also had 19 assists, and the Senators expect him to keep improving next season. Karlsson should be a solid player on the team for many years to come. The Senators have some talent on the team, but they just could not hold of the New York Rangers in game 7. Expect the Senators to be fighting in the playoffs again next season. |
