There will likely be many changes ahead for the Magic, and they will be looking for a new coach this offseason. There was much drama surrounding Orlando this season. Star player Dwight Howard outspokenly disagreed with his coach Stan Van Gundy. Van Gundy was fired towards the end of the season, and the rumor is that Howard wants traded. He would certainly be a huge loss to the team. As one of the top big men in the NBA, Howard led the team in points (20.6 per game), Rebounds (14.5 per game), steals (1.5 per game), and blocks (2.1 per game). If he leaves, the Magic will have a huge void to fill. Ryan Anderson (PF) put up solid numbers this season. Anderson averaged 16.1 points per game, and the Magic will need more from him if they trade Dwight Howard. Jameer Nelson also played solid at point guard. J.J. Redick started playing better this season, shooting 41.8 percent from the 3-point-line. If he can become a major scorer, then the Magic would be able to better adjust to losing their big man. The Magic may have a lot of changes headed their way, but the team still has hope. They have some solid players on the team, and if they have to trade Howard, they hope that they can get some star power in return. |
