One Direction

One Direction is a British-Irish boy band that includes the following members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. This band signed to Simon Cowell's recording label, after forming and finishing third in the hit tv series of the British television show The X Factor. The group was recently signed in North America, by Columbia Records. One Direction's first single, "What Makes You Beautiful", was released in August 2011 and started at number one in the UK and was and instant chart topper in several international markets. Their debut album, Up All Night, followed in December of  2011, and debuted at number three on the UK's Album Charts, selling 238,131 copies, and was the fastest selling debut album on the UK Albums Chart of 2011. On 21 March 2012, Up All Night debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 176,000 copies in its first week, making One Direction the first U.K. group in history to debut at number one with their first album.
