2012 New England Patriots

The New England Patriots made it all the way to the Super Bowl in 2011, before the New York Giants stopped them in their tracks. This year, the Patriots hope to make another playoff run and bring hope the Lombardi Trophy.Tom Brady (QB) leads an offense that was second in passing yards in the NFL last season.  Brady and the offense will be just as dangerous this year, and Coach Bill Belichick knows how to put players in position to make plays.  Wes Welker (WR) and Rob Gronkowski (TE) will likely lead the team in catches in 2012.  Welker had 122 receptions last year, and Gronkowski pitched in with 17 touchdowns.  This offensive attack will pass the majority of the time and will put up big passing numbers again in 2012. The Patriots' defense will need to improve this season.  The team ranked 31st in opponent passing yardage, allowing an average of 293.9 yards per game.  They  also ranked just 17th in rushing yards. New England drafted Chandler Jones (DE) from Syracuse in the first-round of the draft, and they hope that he can help provide a pass rush that slows down opposing quarterbacks. Overall, the New England Patriots should be able to outscore teams again in 2012.  If their defense can hold strong, look for them to make a run deep into the playoffs.
