They hope that they can improve in the offseason and win more games next year. Offensively, the Wild struggled this season. They only averaged 2.0 goals per game, which was the lowest in the NHL. If the Wild are going to be successful, then they will need to find ways to score more goals. Dany Heatley (RW) led the team with 24 goals and 29 assists this year. Mikko Koivu has the most assists with 32. He also scored 12 goals. Expect the Wild to improve their goal scoring by next year. On defense, the Wild played much better, holding opponents to a 2.6 goals per game average. Niklas Backstrom (G) and Josh Harding (G) played well this year. Backstrom had a save percentage of .919, while Harding had a save percentage of .917. If the team can start scoring more goals on offense, then that should take some of the pressure off of their goalies. Overall, the Wild will need to figure out how they can score more goals. If they can do that, then they will be competitive next season. |
