2011 Michigan Football Team Review
The Michigan Wolverines had a renaissance season under Brady Hoke in 2011. Michigan won 11 games, beat Ohio State and won the Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech. The improvement of the defense was the key in 2011. Michigan played a tough aggressive style although it was not a shutdown type of defense it was enough for the Wolverines in 2011. The offense was led by quarterback Dennard Robinson, one of the most exciting players in the country and is in the running for the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Robinson was responsible for 38 touchdowns in 2011. Running back Fitzgerald Toussaint exploded on the scene for 1,041 yards and kept defenses honest when they keyed on Robinson too much.
Michigan will be one of the favorites in the Big Ten in 2012. The offense with Robinson, Toussaint and Ray Roundtree at wide receiver will put up the points but the defense will have to come through for Michigan to be title contenders. Seven starters return on defense but three starters on the defensive line have to replaced. If they can be replaced Michigan can duplicate their success they had in 2011. Michigan has to travel to Dallas to face Alabama in the season opener and that game will show how much the Wolverine program has progressed.
