Marquette ended the season in second place in the Big East, posting a 14-4 record in the conference. The Golden Eagles' 2011-12 Highlights included victories against then #7 Wisconsin, then #21 Louisville, then #12 Georgetown, and NCAA Tournament wins over Brigham Young and Murray State.Among the key returning players for the Golden Eagles are 6-8 junior Davante Gardner, 6-7 junior Jamil Wilson, 6-4 junior Vander Blue, 6-3 sophomore Todd Mayo, 6-1 senior Junior Cadougan, 6-11 senior Chris Otule, 6-3 senior Jake Thomas (transfer), 6-0 sophomore Derrick Wilson and 6-6 junior Jamail Jones.
