Kansas finished the season in first place in the Big 12, with a 16-2 conference record. Highlights of the 2011-12 campaign included wins over then #2 Ohio State, then #22 Kansas State, then #3 Baylor, a second win over Baylor (then ranked #6), an overtime defeat of then #3 Missouri, and a victory against #1 seeded North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament.Among the key returning players for the Jayhawks are 6-4 senior Elijah Johnson, 6-5 senior Travis Releford, 6-8 senior Kevin Young and 6-8 junior Justin Wesley. Kansas has some quality recruits joining the team this coming season, including 6-8 Perry Ellis, 6-9 Tony Parker, 6-2 Nino Jackson, 6-6 Savon Goodman, 6-6 Andrew White, 6-9 Zach Peters, 6-3 Anrio Adams and 6-8 Landen Lucas.
