Yellow Jackets Football

The ACC's Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets finished the 2011 season with an 8-5 record, capped off with a heart-breaking 30-27 overtime defeat at the hands of Utah in the Hyundai Sun Bowl. Georgia Tech finished third in the ACC's Coastal Division, with a 5-3 record in conference play. Highlights of the 2011 campaign included a 6-0 start to the season, with wins against Western Carolina, Middle Tennessee, Kansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Maryland, and an upset of then #5 Clemson on October 29.
Among the key returning players for the Yellow Jackets are quarterback Tevin Washington, running back David Sims, running back Orwin Smith, offensive guard Omoregie Uzzi, linebacker Julian Burnett, linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, cornerback Rod Sweeting, cornerback Louis Young and safety Isaiah Johnson.
Georgia Tech has several quality recruits joining the team this coming season, including multi-position athlete Justin Thomas (Alabama), defensive end Francis Kallon (Georgia), defensive tackle Patrick Gamble (Georgia), multi-position athlete Marcus Allen (Florida) and cornerback D.J. White (Georgia).
