California finished fourth in the Pac-12's North Division last season, with a 4-5 conference record. Highlights of the 2011 campaign included an exciting 36-33 overtime victory over Colorado, dominant wins against Utah and Washington State, and a 47-38 road triumph at Arizona State. Among the key returning players for the Golden Bears are quarterback Zach Maynard, running back Isi Sofele, running back C.J. Anderson, wide receiver Keenan Allen, defensive back Josh Hill and defensive back Steve Williams. California has several quality recruits joining the team this coming season, including quarterback Zach Kline (California), wide receiver Darius Powe (California), wide receiver Bryce Treggs (California), linebacker Michael Barton (California) and offensive tackle Christian Okafor (Texas). The 2012 California schedule features a number of great matchups, among them are a home season-opener against a tough Nevada squad, a non-conference tilt with Big Ten power Ohio State, and Pac-12 matchups with the likes of UCLA, Stanford, Washington and Oregon. California 2012 Preview

California finished the 2011 season with a 7-6 record. In last two seasons the Golden Bears are 12-13 some are saying the program has peaked under Coach Jeff Tedford. Quarterback Zach Maynard improved as the season went along. Running back Isi Sofele rushed for 1,322 yards and 10 touchdowns. Wide receiver Keenan Allen caught 98 passes for 1,343 yards and is considered a potential NFL first round pick. Cal's defense was steady but not spectacular in 2011.
California has the potential to have a decent offense with Sofele and Allen. The defense only returns 3 starters and only has one starter returning in the front seven. The Golden Bears have been mediocre the past few seasons and much of the same is expected in 2012. Cal will win 6 games in 2012.
