Colorado Avalanche of the NHL Return

The Colorado Avalanche finished the season with a record of 41-35-6, missing their chance to advance to the playoffs. The Avalanche will look to improve this offseason so that they can win more games.
The Avalanche ranked 24th in the NHL in goals scored per game this season. They will need to score more next year if they want to be successful. 19-year-old Gabriel Landeskog (LW) led the team with 22 goals this year. The Avalanche expect the young player to develop into one of the top players in the NHL. He should be exciting to watch for years to come. Ryan O’Reilly (C) is another young player that has potential. O’Reilly led the team with 37 assists in his second season in the NHL. The 21-year-old also had 18 goals.
Defensively, the Avalanche ranked 15th in goals against, allowing 2.7 goals per game. Semyon Varlamov (G) and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (G) shared time in goal this year. Giguere, the veteran, fared slightly better, earning a save percentage of 9.19 and a goals against average of 2.28. Varlamov had a save percentage of .913 in his third season in the NHL.
The Avalanche have some young players that have a ton of potential. Expect them to play even better next season.
