Finishing with a record of 49-22-11, the St. Louis Blues ended with the second-best record in the Western Conference this season. However, the team lost to the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Semifinals. They will be fighting in the playoffs again next season, and they hope that they can lift the Stanley Cup.
David Backes (C) led the offense this season with 24 goals and 30 assists. Backes hopes to score even more next season. Alex Pietrangelo (D) also played excellent. He led the team with 39 assists and also pitched in 12 goals. As a team, the St. Louis Blues did not score a ton of goals. In fact, they ranked 21st in the NHL in goals per game.
The low number of goals scored did not matter. The Blues had the top defense in the league, averaging only 1.9 goals against per game. The defense had two excellent goalies that played well all season long. Brian Elliott (G) had a save percentage of .940 and a goals against average of 1.56, while Jaroslav Halak had a save percentage of .926 and a goals against average of 1.97. The Blues expect to have a strong defense again next season.
Overall, the Blues have a great team. They just hope that they can win in the playoffs next season.
