Southern University and A&M College are represented in 13 men and women’s athletic teams by the Southern Jaguars. The Jaguars are NCAA Division 1 members and compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Jaguars have won more titles in the SWAC for football, than any other team. The men and women have a combined cross-country varsity team and compete separately in their other sports. The men field teams in baseball, basketball, football, and track & field. The women field teams in basketball, bowling, soccer, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Fans, alumni, and the like show of Southern Jaguar pride in blue and gold. Lacumba the Jaguar is the University’s mascot. Southern University athletic facilities where you can see the Jaguars compete include Lee-Hines Field, F.G. Clark Center, and Ace W. Mumford Stadium.
