Barber Of Seville

Comedies are great. There probably isn't a single person in the entire world who doesn't enjoy a good comedy. Some, though, are better than others, and there really is nothing worse than a comedy...that isn't comedic. Laughing is the name of the game! The Barber of Seville is definitely one of the comedies that make you laugh, and laugh a lot at that.   The Barber of Seville was made by Italian Gioachino Rossini, with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini roughly 200 years ago. This test of time, though, has most definitely not been failed, as the Barber of Seville is known across the globe as one of the best, if not the best, humorous opera of all time. The story is slightly odd, as you would expect of an opera buffa (humorous opera). It revolves around a young count and his drive to have the woman he will marry fall in love with him. He knows that she will be wed to him because he is the count: there really isn't much choice for either of them. However, not wanting to be just another feather in her father-in-law's hat, he tries desperately to have the young woman fall in love with him for who he is, and not for what he has. What follows is a spectacle of humorous proportions as he takes on disguises, writes letters, and conspires, all to be able to talk to the young woman.   For anyone who enjoys operas, this is a definite must. For anyone who enjoys  comedies, this is a definite must. For anyone who enjoys comedic operas, this really is a no-brainer choice! Come and get your tickets before they are sold out!
