The Auburn Tigers football team represents Auburn University in college football as a member of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, competing in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Since its beginnings in 1892, Auburn football has won 2 national championships, 11 conference championships, 7 divisional championships, 7 perfect seasons, and 3 Heisman Trophy winners. Auburn is the 13th winningest program in NCAA Div1A history, and has compiled over 700 victories, while appearing in 36 postseason bowl games. Auburn is currently 5th in Bowl Winning Percentage. Auburn's home stadium is Jordan-Hare Stadium, which becomes Alabama's fifth largest city on gamedays with a capacity of 87,451. Auburn competes in the Iron Bowl, one of the fiercest rivalries in college football, against Alabama. Auburn's winningest coach is Ralph "Shug" Jordan, who led the Tigers from 1951 to 1975, and won the school's first national championship in 1957. The team is currently coached by Gene Chizik, who was hired on December 13, 2008. They are the reigning national champions after defeating the Oregon Ducks 22-19 in the BCS National Championship Game on January 10, 2011.

Jordan-Hare Stadium is the playing venue for Auburn University's football team located on campus in Auburn, Alabama, USA. The stadium is named for Ralph "Shug" Jordan, the University's winningest football coach, and Cliff Hare, a member of Auburn's first football team as well as Dean of the Auburn University School of Chemistry and President of the Southern Conference. On November 19, 2005, the playing field at the stadium was named Pat Dye Field in honor of former Auburn coach and athletic director Pat Dye. The stadium reached its current seating capacity of 87,451 with the 2004 expansion and is the twelfth largest stadium in the NCAA. By the end of the 2006 season, it was estimated that 19,308,753 spectators had attended a football game in Jordan-Hare.Jordan-Hare Stadium regularly makes lists of the best gameday atmospheres and most intimidating places to play.
