Amadou & Mariam
Amadou and Mariam is a famous music group of a couple from Mali formed in 1954. They are also known as The blind group from Mali. Both these members of the group lost their vision during their childhood, but due to interest in music, they started an epic music career. Their name became popular in the music industry in 1985, when they started playing Malian blues. They recorded several cassette albums in 1986 after their travel to Cote d'lvoire. They also participated in many festivals all over the world and performed in live concerts. They recorded their first studio album "Sou Ni tile" in 1998. This was their first release outside of the Africa. The only popular hit song of the album was "Je pense a toi". The hit song from Amadou and Mariam increased their popularity in France after recording for a radio show went viral. More than 10000 copies of the album were sold. They approached Latin Music in 2003, where they produced their second album "Sunday in Bamako", which was released in 2004. The popularity of the album was their distinctive vocals that attracted thousands of fans and new wave sound. Their first CD album was released in 2005 and became the reason for its nomination for the best world music album of the year. They won that award and became the top superstars in their country. They recorded their most well known anthem "Celebrate the day" in 2006 for the FIFA world cup.
