Altoona Curve
The Altoona Curve, a double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates is a minor league baseball team based in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Along with other baseball minor league teams like Erie Seawolves, Bowie Baysox, Pittsburgh Steelers, Trenton Thunder, Jackson Generals and many others are all comprised of players looking to reach the major leagues. Altoona Curve plays in the Eastern League which operates primarily in the northeast in the United States. Eastern league is a minor baseball league was founded in 1923 as the New York-Pennsylvania League. From its inception up to the present time, they compete in the Eastern Leagues in 51 cities scattered in 12 US States and 2 Canadian provinces. At present there are now ten teams with the recent addition of Portland Sea Dogs and New Haven Ravens.
Because of this great expansion, the league was divided into the Northern Division and the Southern Division which provides the fans with more even competition. Altoona Curve's record of winning games has put them in the top tier of the league over the last 5 years. They recently played the New Hampshire Fishercats on August and won at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium (formerly Merchansauto.com Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire).
