Albuquerque Isotopes
Another minor baseball league under a Player Development Contract (PDC) is Albuquerque Isotopes based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque Isotopes is a Triple-A affiliate of Los Angeles Dodgers. Being one step below the major league level, it is quality ball playing at a great price. Albuquerque is well represented in the baseball world by the Albuquerque Isotopes. The team has done well recently and the Dodgers have been the beneficiary. The team used used to be Albuquerque Dukes which had represented Albuquerque at the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and they actually won several games in the PCL championships in the 1970s and 1980s. But Albuquerque relocated to Portland Oregon and renamed the team the Portland Beavers. Then as luck would have it for Albuquerque the Calgary Cannons were relocated to New Mexico and took the name Albuquerque Isotopes. The team did however have a vote and the Albuquerque Tribune helped the team decide on their official name by conducting an online survey. The name Isotopes got 67% of the votes in the end out of the 120,000 votes. It is still more appropriately called that because Albuquerque is home to a number of scientific and military facilities that are into nuclear technology, Wasteland Isolation Pilot Project, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories to name just but a few. As volcanic as the development in technology in New Mexico, so are the Albuquerque Isotopes in playing the baseball. Come out and see this minor league team play.
