Alabama Crimson tide is an intercollegiate team of the University of Alabama and where did its nick name come from, "Crimson Tide"? From a very fierce football match in 1907 with University of Auburn (one of the main rivalries of Alabama Crimson Tide) in a sea of mud and a historic game of wills where they held Auburn to a 6-6 tie.
The Alabama Crimson Tide is a very tough team to beat. Having had fourteen (14) national championships records and a history of the best talent in the country. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) had recognized Alabama Crimson Tide as national champions for 1945, 1962, 1966, 1967 and 1977 among others and again in the 2011 college football season. This team is coached by Nick Saben and he demands effort and courage and self-discipline like no other coach. Very recently on January 2, 2012 they ranked number two beating the current number one - Louisiana State University by 21-0 at the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) taking the BCS national title.
