A Church Basement Ladies Christmas
Away in a Basement: A New Twist on Christmas
Over the last few decades, feminism has really grown into almost outlandish proportions, often being cited as becoming that which it originally fought to overcome: sexism. This model of thought, although rather prominent throughout the decades thanks to the rising popularity of feminism, has left many a film and play tainted with the mindset that women are, in fact, better than men. However, in the new Broadway act Away in a Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas, sexism is not on the mind. What is on the mind is the strength of women in a heart-warming and chivalrous tale, although chivalrous from the perspective of women! A Church Basement Ladies Christmas is a true masterpiece as the story tells about a group of, you guessed it, church basement ladies who cook and work in the basement of the church in order to provide for all of the patrons and members of the church that they work in. They are often considered to be rather inconspicuous, but like in the first outing of the Church Basement Ladies, A Church Basement Ladies Christmas has them called upon yet again to save the day with their down-to-earth humour and appeal that has caused them to be loved so much by so many people. A Church Basement Ladies Christmas is actually a sequel to a previous incarnation of the franchise, which was called simply "Church Basement Ladies." The play and accompanying book were written by Greta Grosch, and the lyrics and music were written by Drew Jansen. Being on Broadway, you know that it has a superb cast of talented actors who will bring the charming and heart-melting story to life for you.
